Driver Requirements
To rent a trailer from Rockin R Rentals, you must be at least 21 years old with a valid U.S. driver's license. You don't need a special CDL or commercial license to tow our trailers with a personal vehicle. A standard Class D license covers towing for personal use in Arizona. You'll need to upload photos of your license (front and back) during the booking process.
Insurance Requirements
You must carry valid auto liability insurance that covers towing a trailer for the entire rental period. Most personal auto policies cover trailer towing, but check with your insurance provider to confirm. We require a photo of your current insurance card during booking. If your policy doesn't cover trailer towing, you'll need to add it or obtain supplemental coverage before your rental starts.
Arizona Towing Laws
Arizona requires trailer brakes on any trailer with a GVWR over 3,000 lbs. Both of our trailers have electric brakes, so your tow vehicle needs a brake controller (many newer trucks have them built in). Maximum legal speed while towing in Arizona is 65 mph on highways. Trailers must have functioning tail lights, brake lights, and turn signals. You're legally responsible for securing your load and any damage caused by items falling from your trailer.
Tow Vehicle Requirements
Your tow vehicle must be rated for the trailer's GVWR. Both our 20ft car hauler and dump trailer have a 10,000 lb GVWR. You'll need a 2-5/16 inch ball hitch, a 7-pin trailer wiring connector, and a brake controller. Full-size trucks (F-150, Silverado 1500, RAM 1500 and up) are the most common tow vehicles used by our customers. SUVs with proper tow packages can work for the dump trailer.
The Rental Process
Everything happens online. Browse our trailers, select your dates, upload your documents (license and insurance), sign the rental contract electronically, and pay. About 2 hours before your scheduled pickup, we text you a 6-digit lockbox code. Drive to our Phoenix yard, enter the code, grab the keys, and hook up. Return works the same way in reverse. The entire booking process takes about 10 minutes from your phone.
Best Times to Rent in Phoenix
Spring (February through April) and fall (October through November) are peak seasons for trailer rentals in Phoenix. The mild weather means more construction, landscaping, and outdoor projects. Summer is slower due to extreme heat, making it a good time to book if you can handle the temperatures. Book early during peak season to ensure availability, especially for weekend rentals.
